Bonjour! I am Simon, a French native speaker with 9 years of experience teaching the language at all levels in a British University.
Whether you are interested in learning French from scratch, or in perfecting existing knowledge, these language sessions will be tailored to your needs. If you are planning to master "day to day" French to get by on holiday, we can focus on this aspect specifically - while if you aim to pass a specific exam, or permanently move to the country, we will tailor any sessions to meet those needs.
I aim to design and use resources which are relevant to the people I teach, which means that we will discuss what you would like/need to cover or discuss. I will then design a lesson plan accordingly, based on your priorities. Resources used can come from a wide range of sources (news items, custom audio files, literature, textbooks, music, cookbooks...) that will match these priorities. The idea is for every session to be engaging.
I can also offer assistance to pupils and students, be it at GCSE level, A-Levels or beyond. While I have only taught French in University, I did so at all possible levels (from beginners to advanced), and will help students reinforce what is covered during class content with extra resources. I have a clear DBS check and have had experience with tutoring several high school students while in France.
I will also consider teaching small groups so long as the level is relatively even between individuals, so the sessions remain engaging to all.
I consider a classroom to be a living environment, and strongly feel about communication between student and teacher: I welcome questions at any point, whether it be in the classroom or outside. As far as the classroom is concerned, I am happy to host sessions at my place in PL4, but can also move within Plymouth. Distance learning will be considered as well.
I am available to teach from August 15th 2019 onwards, feel free to contact me for a first chat!
